Is the Philippine MEDIA Establishment
SCARED or AFRAID of or FEAR
the TULFO Brothers?
By Media ESTABLISHMENT I mean Media OWNERS like Top Business People PRIETOS of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, VETERAN Mediaman Amado MACASAET of the Malaya and Abante Publications, the OWNERS of the Philippine Journalists, Inc., some Radio and TV owners, Publishers, Editors, Top Reporters, the Leaders of the NATIONAL PRESS CLUB and the PUBLISHERS ASSOCIATION of the PHILIPPINES, and Leading Columnists like Jarius Bondoc, Randy David, Federico Pascual, Ducky Paredes, etc.
I include COLUMNISTS as AFRAID and SCARED and FEARFUL of the TULFOS because although I TOLD MANY of them, upon personally giving over 50 copies of my book, that I hoped THEY ARE NOT LIKE those to whom I previously gave copies and asked to mention in their columns even just the title of the book and did not give in to my request, NOT ONE was BRAVE enough to accede to my REPEATED simple request. No wonder, two years after giving away the book to scores of Top Media Professionals, and being sold in some “BRAVE” (many BOOK STORES, including that of the University of the Philippines, REFUSED to carry the book for FEAR of the TULFO Brothers!!!) BOOK STORES, the title of the book “Liars, Intimidators and Extortionists in Philippine Media” has not been mentioned in any of the over 40 broadsheets and tabloids being sold in the streets of Manila .
WHY do I ask the question
“Is the Philippine Media Establishment SCARED or AFRAID of or FEAR the TULFO Brothers?”
I ask this BECAUSE although very recently, Almost All the Leading Media carried the news item that RAMON, RAFFY and ERWIN TULFO were charged by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) with ROBBERY and MASSIVE EXTORTION on the confession of their “Collector” JIMMY SALGADO,
The TULFO BROTHERS are still VERY ACTIVE in Print, Radio and TV!!! .
(there is a lot of TRUTH in this TULFO MASSIVE EXTORTION report because FOUR YEARS ago, I wrote a paper on JIMMY SALGADO fronting for RAMON TULFO on a P500,000.00 Extortion Attempt, in 1998, on a brother of Customs Commissioner Guillermo Parayno, Jr., a report Ramon Tulfo had, on many occasions, all the chance to deny but never did.. This matter was also discussed in MANY PAGES of my book printed two years ago (in 2004): “Liars, Intimidators and Extortionists in Philippine Media”. The Tulfo Brothers DID NOT DENY their extortion activities described in the book despite the fact that they sued me for Libel twice (in 2004 and in 2005) in Far Away ISABELA, and threatened to sue me in Other Far Away Places in the Philippines .
DESPITE THIS Widespread NEWS that the TULFO Brothers are ENGAGED in MASSIVE MULTI-MILLION PESOS EXTORTION at CUSTOMS,
they are still very much around, Ramon Tulfo with Philippine Daily Inquirer and Bandera (the Tagalog version of his English Inquirer column), Erwin Tulfo with People’s TONIGHT, Raffy Tulfo IMMEDIATELY embraced by BULGAR (which describes itself as a National and International Daily Tabloid but lists no name in the usual editorial box) as soon as his column stopped appearing in the Abante publications. Ramon Tulfo announced that he is negotiating with Radio and TV stations to continue his broadcasts after leaving RPN TV 9 and a radio station.
I am attaching herewith press clippings on the MASSIVE EXTORTION activities at the BUREAU of CUSTOMS of the TULFO Brothers through their collector JIMMY SALGADO who suddenly became extraordinarily rich (a mansion valued at over P10.0 million, three late model SUV’s, for example) after a span of only three or four years as collector of MASSIVE EXTORTION for the TULFO Brothers!!!.
I am also attaching herewith several letters I sent to the editors and management of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Abante TONITE and Peoples’ TONIGHT enumerating the LIES of Ramon, Raffy and Erwin Tulfo and exhorting the papers’ editors/management to FIRE THEM FOR SPREADING LIES TO THE FILIPINO PEOPLE.
Aside from writing these letters to the papers, I also wrote two books on corruption in Philippine media. The first one is “Liars, Intimidators and Extortionists in Philippine Media” which discussed not only the LIES and EXTORTIONS of Raffy, Erwin and Ramon TULFO but also the SMUGGLING activities of REY LANGIT and the EXTORTION activities of a top Philippine Star editor. I wrote the book in 2004.
In 2005, seeing how powerful Ramon Tulfo was with Top Philippine Officialdom, I expanded the book and changed its title to “The PRESIDENT and Her MEN KISS the ASS of RAMON TULFO.”
For the above efforts, I was sued for libel by the Tulfos, filing the charges in Far Away ISABELA where they wield considerable political power. They also threatened to file similar charges in Other Far Away Places in the Philippines ...
Despite the numerous instances of LIES and EXTORTIONS discussed in the two books, the letters to Inquirer, Abante TONITE and People’s TONIGHT on the new LIES of the TULFO Brothers were totally ignored by the papers’ Editors and Management
COMPARE the TREATMENT of the TULFO Brothers with the UPHEAVALS, two-three years ago, in
NEW YORK TIMES
and BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION!!!
In June 2003, New York Times Executive Editor Howell Raines and Managing Editor Gerald Bold, the paper’s top editors, RESIGNED because of a young reporter’s (Jayson Blair) “plagiarized” and “fabricated” stories which misled the paper’s readers. These Jayson Blair stories were not necessarily LIES with Malicious Intents like the LIES of RamonTulfo as those about PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES Fernando Poe, Jr. having a SMALL PENIS, Raul Roco a WIFE BEATER, Ms. Lacson an ADULTERESS, Senator Lacson a MURDERER, former BIR and Customs Commissioner Parayno a THIEF and a LECHER, etc.
In January 2004, Board Chairman Gavyn Davies and Director General Greg Dyke, the Two Top Officers of the Board of Governors of the British Broadcasting Corporation were forced to resign over a “questionable” radio report (of its defense correspondent Andrew Gilligan, who also resigned) on the existence of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD).
These Resignations Of Top Editors And Officers show how the world’s great media institutions VALUE TRUTH in Mass Media, unlike here in the Philippines where the Tulfo Brothers, known for their Lies, Intimidations and Massive Extortions, are revered and coddled as very valuable journalists in leading Philippine mass media organizations.
It is worthwhile to reproduce here a statement at the beginning page of my books:

Probably your program “Media in Focus” broadcast in ABS-CBN NEWS CHANNEL can answer the question: WHY is it that the TULFO Brothers, DESPITE their WIDESPREAD LIES and MASSIVE EXTORTION at the BUREAU of CUSTOMS, are STILL with Radio, Print and TV where they CAN SPREAD LIES to the FILIPINO PEOPLE enabling them to INTIMIDATE Further SOME PEOPLE (like BUSINESSMEN or EXTORTING CUSTOMS OFFICIALS) for EXTORTION PURPOSES? Is this not like a NURSE caught SUFFOCATING HELPLESS BABIES in the nursery of a hospital still allowed to continue being a NURSE IN THE NURSERY OF THE SAME HOSPITAL, or in other hospitals, like Ramon Tulfo still allowed to practice in Inquirer and Bandera his brand of “INVENTING LIES JOURNALISM,” Erwin Tulfo writing for PEOPLE’S Tonight, or Raffy Tulfo writing for BULGAR immediately after his column disappeared from Abante TONITE.
The Editors, Publishers or Owners of Philippine Daily Inquirer, Abante TONITE, People’s TONIGHT and BULGAR and the Radio and TV stations in which the TULFO Brothers have programs may be invited to answer these and other related questions.
I am also sending you copy of my book as reference material on some corrupt members of Philippine Media. ..
